2015-19-26 OA Precious Blood Of Christ
Transcript
Now one of the themes throughout 1 Peter was the precious blood of Jesus Christ, the imperishable blood of Jesus Christ. What that means is that His blood does not die. His blood will always have its desired effect, and His blood will always wash sinners clean who come to Him by faith. And that is why we're here today. we want you to know the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the message, the good news, that God has made a way for sinners to be reconciled to himself. God has made a way for sinners to be reconciled to himself, and that is through the blood of his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was born about 2,000 years ago you know the story he was born in a manger we celebrate it at Christmas time and Jesus Christ was born in that manger and he fulfilled the prophecies that said where he would be born and he would be born in Bethlehem and the king at that time was very very angry because he knew there were prophecies of a coming king a coming Messiah who would lead his people, Israel.
And so King Herod commanded that somebody go and find this baby. They wanted to find the baby, Jesus Christ. And what King Herod did at that time is he issued a decree that all the children of Judea that were two years and younger would be killed. This was a mass killing of children under two years old just so that he could make sure that the one who was supposed to fulfill the prophecy to take his throne would die.
Similarly, in ancient Egypt, when the Jews were slaves there, their people were growing in number because they kept having more children. And Pharaoh, the leader of Egypt, said to kill all of the Jewish babies when they came out. This is a heinous thought to our minds today. but yet we stand here in a country that kills thousands of babies a day through the act of abortion.
People take little beings, little humans, the most weak people in existence and they reach up into the woman who's supposed to protect that baby and they kill them daily. Right now it's happening as you're walking to a football game. Human beings are being murdered by the thousands and it's being done with our tax money and it's being done while many of us walk away not only ignoring it but sometimes supporting it.
We are in the middle of a massive holocaust of people in our country and in the world. People are murdering the unborn. because of their gender, because of the unborn's weakness that they may have when they're older, because of a disease that they inherited. And if you are standing by and you are supporting the pro-choice position, if you're supporting places like Planned Parenthood, you are a murderer in the eyes of God. if you have had an abortion or if you have paid for an abortion or tried to talk somebody into having an abortion you have committed murder and God sees you as a murderer and he will cast you into a lake of fire where murderers belong it used to be that we would ask you if you hated somebody and if you had hated somebody we would tell you that God will punish someone that hates someone else made in His image as if you've killed that person, but we don't need to do that now.
Since the blood of millions of babies is on our hands here in America, we are here today to tell you that there is forgiveness even for the most heinous of all sins. That Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin. He was born without the stain of original sin that everybody here was born with. Born of a virgin and then lived a sinless perfect life obeying the law in all ways always in communion with his father through the Holy Spirit Never once disobeying God never once committing idolatry and putting someone else above himself Don't bow to me, bow to God.
He never once looked upon a woman to lust after her. He certainly didn't fornicate or engage in pornography or the distribution of pornographic material on the corner before a Buckeyes game to try to get men to separate themselves from their money so that they can lust after women and use them. But yet those are the things that we do. Even a child is known by his deeds, it says in the book of Proverbs.
And God knows your deeds. God knows every thought and intention of your heart. God knows even in the best act that you ever did, He knows your heart attitude about it. And many times the selfishness that was probably associated with your heart. And yet God, in His infinite mercy, sent His Son Jesus Christ to die. He sent Jesus Christ into the world to die for sinners.
Listen. It says in Romans 5, For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person, though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die. But God shows His love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since therefore we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.
What do you need to be saved from? You need to be saved from God's righteous anger toward you because of your hatred for Him, because of your sin against Him and because of your willing disobedience to God's commands. And God is angry with the wicked every single day according to Psalm 5, according to Psalm 7, and He is going to take vengeance on those who do evil.
But God has great love for people. He sent Jesus Christ to satisfy His wrath. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He satisfied the wrath of God for sinners. and Jesus died and he rose again three days later in fulfillment of the scriptures so that sinners could be forgiven and we're here to tell you today to come by faith to Jesus Christ it doesn't matter how old you are how young you are, it doesn't matter what you've done we're all sinners in the eyes of God and yet God in his mercy killed his only son for you and for me and he commands you to repent of your dead works, of your evil ways and to trust him this is the great love of God.
How many of you would sacrifice yourself for someone else? How many of you would sacrifice someone you loved for your very enemy? That's what God did. That is His great love towards sinners. It hurts me to see people walk away so indifferent, frankly. It bothers me.
It bothers me that people don't care that God has done this great work on their behalf. I trust that those who will hear the preaching of His Word and who will believe are His sheep. But I want you, I want you to believe. Let me bless you with this Old Testament psalm For many of you it will be familiar, but let me just bless you with it. Psalm of David, Psalm 23.
Yahweh is my shepherd I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his namesake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of Yahweh forever. That is the promise to those who see Jesus Christ as their shepherd. God can even forgive your mocking and your ignorance God is a forgiving God and He sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay the penalties for sinners Every one of us has violated His holy commands.
Thou shalt not lie, thou shalt not steal. You may say you've never committed adultery. Actually, God has said that we should do this. We've got a woman that thinks she's a Bible expert. That's excellent. God has commanded that His Word go forth.
He said, go and preach the good news to all creation. The example in Scripture throughout is of men standing in the public arena proclaiming His Word, knowing that God's Word... Who is it? I can't tell who it is from here. Knowing that God's Word will not return to them void. God knows that if His Word is preached even in the public area where people think they don't want to hear it that it can have the effect on your heart that He wants it to have His Word is sharper than a two-edged sword more powerful able to divide soul and spirit as bone from marrow and God's Word could pierce your heart right now and I pray that you would repent of your sin and you would turn to Christ a forgiving God the loving God who sent His Son to die.
Why do you think Jesus Christ died? Jesus Christ died because He became sin who knew no sin so that we could have His righteousness. Jesus Christ died and then rose again for the justification of sin so that people could be declared righteous before God even though they were not. we can stand before God simultaneously unrighteous because of our sin but righteous because of Christ and God promises to see us only through Christ if you repent of your sins and trust Him by faith you must believe that He lived a sinless life you must believe that He died on the cross for your sins and that He rose again three days later that God has the power to raise you from your dead life just like He raised Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ died a real physical death and came back a real physical life. You're walking spiritually dead right now and God can raise you to new life and that is what we're here to tell you about. We're here to tell you that you must be born again to see the kingdom of heaven. We call on you today to beg God for mercy, to fall before God and plead with Him to have mercy on you, a sinner, to realize your own spiritual bankruptcy, your own lack of ability to feel the distance between you and God that's been created by your sin.
We want you to know that Jesus Christ saves, that He's worthy of glory and honor and praise, that he's worthy of all your worship. He's important enough for you to set aside time every day to worship him privately. He's important enough that you should set aside time every week to worship him corporately. That's with other people that love Jesus Christ.
He's important enough for you to use part of the money you make to try to advance his mission, the proclamation of the good news that Jesus saves. He's important enough for you to put away filthy things. For you to put away your debauchery, your alcohol. To put away fornication. Put away lying and stealing. He's important enough to give this stuff up.
And the eternal life he provides is greater than anything that you can compare to in this world. A lot of people like to make analogies. Eternal life is like this. Or Jesus is like this. nothing's like Jesus. He's just that great. There's no words that can describe him adequately.
He's the King of Kings. He's the Lord of Lords. He's the bright and morning star. He calls himself the way, the truth, and the life. He calls himself the light of the world. He calls himself the resurrection and the life.
Jesus Christ is the good shepherd, and his sheep know his voice. Jesus Christ's sheep know his voice that means that when people who are his sheep hear the word of God they know that that is Jesus talking to them They know that Jesus Word His words from the Holy Spirit written by men into the Bible have been preserved for His people even to today. And there are people all over the world that don't have a Bible.
I guess there's over 4,000 languages that exist where there still is no scripture for those people. And yet here you are. You could buy a dozen Bibles today at a dozen different bookstores if you wanted. It's still legal. And yet most of you are very ignorant of God's law, of His holiness, of your great need for a Savior, for a mediator to go between you and God to make things right for you. and that very ignorance itself is sin against God who has adequately revealed himself to all men.
I realize that some of the things that are said here are very hard. Some of them are very hard to hear. Some of them may make you feel uncomfortable. They may be difficult, but we're here to tell you these things because of love. because we really believe there is a terrible hell that is waiting for sinners. We really believe that God is going to punish sinners in a lake of fire for their sins against Him and for rejecting Jesus Christ as Savior.
And we know that the only way for anyone to believe is for a preacher to come and tell them. In Romans 10 it says, How will they believe on Him whom they have not heard? and how will they hear without a preacher? So here we are. And we are preaching to you the good news of Jesus Christ, which you have heard. We're preaching the Word of God. We're preaching God's holy law, not as a means for salvation, but God's holy law that you can compare your life to so that you can see your need for a Savior.
You can see that you cannot keep God's commandments. No one here has kept the commandments. No one has kept God first in all ways at all times. No one here has gone through their whole life without lying, without stealing, taking something that isn't yours. Nobody here has always been obedient to their parents or honored their parents. God calls that sin.
Nobody here has been able to keep a clean mouth. This man here lacks vocabulary, so he uses the F word. And so does that man. Cowardice is also a sin according to God. That guy needs one ticket. God cares.
He cares about you so much He sent Jesus Christ to die. And He brought a preacher to tell you that Jesus Christ died and you should repent of your sins and trust Him as your Savior. Repent. Repent of your sins and trust Him. Jesus Christ is full of love even for those that mock Him. just like I used to do. But when Jesus Christ comes into a person's life, something happens.
Just like when the Holy Spirit comes into a person's life. You come alive in a different way. You're able to understand God's Word. You're able to understand His law and you have a desire to keep it. Right now, many of you are probably ignorant of it and you don't care. but we want you to know that God is going to punish you God is going to punish you in a lake of fire for your rebellion against him and his law but that doesn't have to happen Jesus Christ took the punishment that sinners deserve believe on him today, cast your cares upon Christ trust in him for your salvation turn from your dead works, turn from your dead religion and trust Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins that is our desire for you Jesus Christ more powerful than anything more righteous than anything more holy than anything Jesus Christ perfect God we pray that if you if you remember nothing from today it is that Jesus Christ saves and that it is the Bible that reveals God's will to man.
So I hope that you will go and you will find a Bible. If you need one, come talk to us. We'll give you one. And that you can read about Jesus Christ's great love towards sinners.
