Short Update and How to Listen to Sermons

I wanted to record this podcast to let you know a little bit about what's going on. This may not be entirely informative, but for those of you who have been enjoying my First Peter sermons, I personally did not want to make my Be a Berean podcast into a sermon feed, and I now have a sermon audio page. Not only is there a sermon audio page in my name, Michael Coughlin, but there is a sermon audio page for my church, Covenant Bible Church of Ohio.

The church code is CBCOH in sermon audio. And so if you want to listen to my sermons, first of all, thank you. I appreciate that. It is very encouraging to hear that the word I'm preaching is helping people. secondly secondly I want you to know that you can listen to my sermons on sermon audio there is an app you can download but if you do not like the sermon audio app let's say you're like I am you use overcast and you love overcast you love cast box or whatever your podcast feed is if you go to the sermon audio page for Michael Coghlan you can see in the upper right hand corner a little box that says RSS and if you click on that box you get options to create a feed that you can paste into one of your other apps so if somebody really wants to do this and you can't figure it out I would help you just email me michael at thingsabove.us.

But in Overcast, the app I like to use for podcasts, you just go to the top where you add a new podcast and you click on add URL and then you just paste the URL that you can copy from Sermon Audio RSS widget And then your podcast catcher will automatically get the latest episodes of my sermons I had a great time at the Builder Summit last weekend so I cannot commend the Builder Summit to you enough. It will be November 12 to 14, 2021, and I am already planning that I want to attend. I had a great time meeting about four dozen men.

I probably got to talk personally with at least a handful, maybe a dozen men where we talked for more than a short time. I was able to make some friendships that I think will last a while. And I had a great joy praying with men and talking about real issues. What impressed me the most about the conference was in between the sessions where people were preaching, men were talking about what was preached. men were confessing sin and talking about repentance for the things that they struggle with in their life and that is what made me so happy about the entire thing because i really i i don't want to go to a men's bible conference to hear about the latest avengers movie or the nfl or even to argue politics, even for important things.

So for me, it was great joy seeing men who exhibited signs that they wanted to bear fruit in keeping with repentance. So I wanted to drop this quick podcast out there for my loyal listeners. I thank you for the appreciation I received from people in person at the Builders Summit. It is a little work to put together a podcast, and it is a time commitment.

And so I am grateful for the feedback that it is useful to people. I want you to pray for me on November 24. I'll go back to Planned Parenthood. We have modified our Planned Parenthood schedule to twice a month So if you pray for me I am preaching twice a month at Planned Parenthood now I wish it could be more Pray for me as I preach every Sunday at my church Covenant Bible Church Pray for me as I try to continue to be a man who's growing in the Lord as a husband and father.

I ask you to pray for me if you're hearing my voice on a podcast. I am back on social media not to hopefully interact with people or have strange arguments about different doctrines that some of which have already been settled in my mind for a while. But to be able to post things and to be an encouragement to the body. if you try to contact me on social media and I don't respond it's because I'm trying to avoid the actual effort of checking notifications and responding to arguments and scrolling so if you really want to talk to me text me email me message me and I will try to find time to talk to you my belief is that if you need discipleship that discipleship should come from your own pastor within your own church context If you have a special need for help, I can understand that that happens.

Sometimes people's churches are ill-equipped, and sometimes people just need to talk to someone else. But as a busy man, I just can't stop everything I'm doing for everybody that just wants to argue with me. So I try to reserve my time for people who will say I think are a good investment. and so that that does not mean that you are not one if you're hearing me and you want to talk to me but i have i have a pretty busy life and my experience has been that some people just want to argue that's not that's not fruitful for me in this stage of my life but i do like hearing from people and i like opportunities to teach people things that maybe they don't understand So if I say something and you think I don understand that or I don agree with him I would be interested in having discussions with people who seem reasonable and willing to learn So hopefully you are edified by what I do.

I want to get back into podcasting about different topics more regularly, and I'm trying to sort out the busyness of my life since being part of a church plant. I have had very little time for anything outside of what little podcasting I've done and posting sermons. And so I do appreciate the men out there who are fighting the good fight in the various cities in our country, even around the world.

I appreciate guys who are going to football games and preaching and people who are trying to evangelize their neighbors and their friends. People are trying to affect legislation and help with political processes, something I wish I was more involved in and adept at. I do hope that you will share this with your friends and let people know if you think that this is good teaching that can help them.
