God Hates Evildoers

Do you want to pray for me real quick? Yeah. Heavenly Father, we lift up Michael right now, Lord. We ask you to fill him with your spirit, that he would preach your word right now, Lord, and whoever can hear, give them ears to hear. Let the gospel go forth. Let it be a light that shines in this dark place.

Convict people of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Let your gospel go forth. Let it be a hammer that breaks the rock. Lord, and then we can receive glory by saving someone, even the Catholic women over there, Lord. Let them be convicted of their idolatry. Let them turn to you and see that you're a forgiving God and you're gracious and kind and merciful.

So, Lord, thank you for this time. Use our brother now. Loosen his tongue for your glory, I pray. In Jesus' precious name, amen. Amen. Thanks, brother. we come here today to announce to you that there is a righteous God and He dwells in the heavens and everything He does is right.

This is what this God who reveals Himself to us through Scripture said in Psalm chapter 5. Give ear to my words, O Yahweh, consider my groaning. give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. This is King David, a type of Jesus Christ, calling out to God for help. He says, O Yahweh, in the morning you hear my voice. He says, in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. for you are not a God who delights in wickedness.

Evil may not dwell with you. He says the boastful shall not stand before your eyes. You hate all evildoers. You destroy those who speak lies. Yahweh abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. the word bloodthirsty describes a person who is so bent on evil that they have to shed the blood of others. One of the reasons we don't see abortions ever depicted in movies or TV is because those who promote abortion actually know how grotesque the whole process is.

They know that if people saw what an abortion really was, a lot of people would just be so turned off by it that they'd turn away. That's one of the reasons it's been completely sanitized in our culture. but Yahweh hates he abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man and so we have a situation where there's a God in heaven who is righteous and just he does not delight in wickedness and yet because of our evil because of our idolatries making images of gods and making images that we worship as God when God in heaven is invisible. Because we've worshipped people who are not God.

Because we worship things. Even attempts to talk to the dead. These are all ways that we avoid the word of God, the clear revelation of God, that there is one way, one way to God, and that is through the only mediator that was ever given, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the great high priest who has made a way to enter the holy of holies where we can stand in the presence of God only because of Jesus Christ's shed blood and the forgiveness of sins that's offered for those who put their trust in him.

So King David continues, he says, But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple. In the fear of you he says lead me O Yahweh in your righteousness because of my enemies make your way straight before me we have no hope that we could do anything righteous apart from god even when we tend to do things that accord with god's law when we do them from a heart that is not fully consecrated to jesus christ by faith God calls those things we do filthy rags in his eyes because to God each one of us was conceived in original sin from his perspective from the moment of any of our conception we are a sinner in his eyes we are the evildoers that he hates.

We are those who delight in wickedness, which is the opposite of what he does. And there is nothing that any of us can do to wash away the stain of original sin. There is nothing that another man can do that can wash away the stain of original sin. There's nothing that a church can do. There's no rituals that can wash away the stain of original sin. Jesus Christ said you must be born again if you are to enter the kingdom of heaven you must be born again he said do not marvel that I said to you you must be born again because if you are not born again you will never even see the kingdom of heaven you won't be able to recognize Jesus Christ when he's revealed to you even if somebody would preach his word unless you are born again.

And so in order to have your stain of original sin cleansed, you must be washed thoroughly from your iniquity. You need the washing of regeneration and the renewal of the Holy Spirit in order for God to be pleased with you. There is no amount of good works you can do. There's no amount of righteous living you can do. There's no amount of law keeping that will make you pleasing to God.

The only thing that is pleasing to God is a heart that has been converted from stone to flesh by His Holy Spirit's power who works when and where He pleases. So the reason David begs for God to lead him in righteousness as David knows his own sinful heart will actually tend toward evil too because there's no truth in the mouth of his enemies he says their inmost self is destruction he says their throat is an open grave they flatter with their tongue describing his enemies and describing the enemies of God the very enemies of Jesus Christ he says their throat is like an open grave nothing is coming out but death and corpses there's no life in the very words we speak to one another but god god in heaven sent his son jesus into the world to redeem people who are dead in their trespasses and sins in which they walk, who are carrying out the deeds of the body and following the prince of the power of the air, and are by nature children of wrath, this God in heaven who does not delight in wickedness and hates all evildoers and abhors the bloodthirsty actually quickens those whom he chooses is so that by faith they might believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior. And this is why the Apostle Paul says, for it's by grace, through faith you have been saved, not a result of work, so that no one may boast.

Notice, the boastful shall not stand before God's eyes. in verse 5. No one will boast in the presence of God except those who boast in Christ Jesus alone and His finished work on the cross. Jesus Christ is the one who paid the full penalty for sin that only He could pay. He the one that satisfied divine justice when He fulfilled the predetermined plan of God to save a people for himself And by his resurrection from the dead sinners can be given new life Sinners can have hope that they will one day be delivered from this body of death in which we live. and so we call on you to repent turn from all of your own sense of righteousness and trust only in the righteousness of jesus christ he is the only savior he is the only man who is ever righteous he is the only human being who ever did perfectly keep god's law and ever could perfectly keep God's law.

Calling on God to have vengeance upon his evildoers. David says, make them bear their guilt, O God. He's calling on God and his divine justice to punish those who will not turn from their sin and trust only in the God of salvation, the God of the Bible, Jesus Christ, the one mediator between God and man. There's only one way to God and it is through Jesus Christ.

And anyone who stands in the place of Jesus Christ and professes themselves to be a priest of God, to be a mediator between God and man is an antichrist. It's somebody who's in the place of Christ. Somebody who sets themselves up as God in the flesh. And God hates all forms of idolatry. He hates all forms of replacing Him with something created. God is so different from each one of us.

He is completely and utterly different from us. And we cannot even think of relating to Him in created terms. We can't try to describe him in terms of creation. And so we call on you to turn from your sin. Turn from even the things that you think you do that are right. And put your faith and trust only in Jesus Christ.

He is sufficient. When he was on the cross, reconciling the world to himself, he said it is finished when he said it is finished that was the announcement that he would come down from the cross he would die he would raise again and there is no more work to be done to satisfy God's justice according to this psalm he says let them fall by their own counsels what we see in our world today as we see people who want to do evil and actually as they counsel each other they're hurting each other all these mask mandates and these vaccines these vaccines that are killing people it's more dangerous to get the vaccine than it is to get covid so by their own counsels god is answering the prayer of david and even Jesus himself, and he's causing people to suffer and fall by their own wisdom because they refuse to trust in the wisdom of God, which is only revealed through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is wisdom from God.

Jesus Christ is righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. And anyone who stands in the presence of God will boast in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone, not their own works. There are many who will say to me on that day, Jesus said, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not cast out demons in your name? And did we not do many mighty works in your name?

And Jesus says, on that day I will say to them, Depart from me, I never knew you, you workers of lawlessness. those who stand before Christ and say Lord Lord did we not do all these things in your name these are people who profess to know Jesus Christ in this life yet their hearts are far from him yet their true faith is in their own efforts not in what God has revealed as his only provision for men to be seen as righteous Just to finish Psalm 5 The psalmist says But let all who take refuge in you rejoice. Let them ever sing for joy. Even in the midst of affliction, even living in a culture of death as we have here, the righteous can sing for joy in their God because they know their God has ordained salvation for all those whom he intends to save, and they know he even has ordained every minute of their life, every moment of their existence.

And so we can rejoice knowing in the final deliverance that will come because God's justice will be meted out eventually. the reason why we're all still standing here right now is because god's patience with us because of god's forbearance with sinners we haven't already been cast into hell and so if you hear me today if you hear the words i'm saying god is giving you a chance to repent if you hear the words that come from my mouth what you're hearing is the gospel that Christ died for sinners that Christ rose again on the third day and that his death could be your death the sin that you need to have and that his resurrection could signify new life for you and God is giving you a chance to turn and to be saved. He promises to spread his protection over them who take refuge in him and that they will exult in him. And he He says, For you bless the righteous, O Yahweh, you cover him with favor as with a shield.

The Bible says, You bless the righteous, O Yahweh. And what we want to think is that this is talking about us. We're righteous, so God protects us. God is talking about the fact that he blesses his son, Jesus Christ, the only righteous man who ever lived. There is none who are righteous, no, not one. No one understands.

No one seeks for God. They've all turned aside. Together they've become worthless. Their throat is an open grave. Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness. The venom of asphodel is under their tongues.

Their feet are quick and swift as shed blood. The way of peace they have not known. And there is no fear of God before their eyes. This is a description of every human being except Jesus Christ. He is the righteous one that God is pleased with. It is only Jesus.

Only Jesus is righteous. And so God blesses him, and all those who are found in him will inherit the same blessings that he earned. And they will be covered with God's favor, as with a shield, the favor of God that will extinguish the fiery darts of even the devil himself. God protects those who are His. So the exhortation today is turn from your sin. Turn from even your own righteousness.

And turn to Jesus Christ alone, because only Jesus Christ can save. humble yourself before God and he will exalt you and the type of exaltation that a humble man before God wants is simply to be allowed into his presence to be with his son forever so that's our hope for you today believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved all those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved for it is by grace you are saved through faith not a result of works so that no one may boast but if you will believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that he is Lord you will be saved come to him today Thank you.
